Bionic Penguins

With Hydrodynamic, these robots can maneuver in a small place and, unlike their real-life counterparts, can swim backwards. They carry 3D sonar which enables them to communicate with other penguins.

Not Just 3D Goggles

Do these look familiar to you? These goggles? These… 3D goggles?

To my, they look like the “Awesome” 3D Environment games they used to have at the state fair. It was sooo 3D! Almost like real life! These are not a game. They are heavy, so do not touch them. This is REAL real life. These are a medical instrument for elderly people. The “ForeSeeHome” by designer Eitan Shariff of I2D: not to be having fun with.

Believe what you see. This instrument is for older folks who want to home- and self-monitor their Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) condition. According to Eitan, “The fundamental challenge was to design an intuitive “plug and use” experience for a sophisticated medical device.”

Here it is: I gotta come clean.

It’s not a 3D gaming device.

I’m sorry I tricked you!

The ForeSeeHome is made for scanning your eyes. It’s just like those machines you might have seen in the eye doctor office. The machine “runs a visual field test where visual stimuli are presented to the user and based on his or her responses the system analyzes the results and diagnoses the clinical condition.”

Complicated stuff!

But eyes are very important - keep a nose on them!

I want it to appeal to people who want to make shirts posters or other creative things for bands and stuff.

Microsoft attacks Apple!

Microsoft can be a little slow at times, but it seems now that they are finally ready to attack Apples app store. The Wall Street Journal said Microsoft is going to make a simililar product called Windows Mobile 6.5. Although the IDC says Microsoft is only 3rd in the running they also say Apple is even further behind in 5th! Thats hard to believe. But no one argues with the fact that Apple is quickly becoming a major league player in this realm.

Microsoft faces the problem of target media. Media has traveled from mostly buisiness use to a more commercial use. Microsoft is still in buisness mode while other companied have already advaced to a more people friendly media. This is why it is crucial that they come up with something to target commercial media like Apple has already started.

But Microsoft has other tricks up its sleeve. They are also introducing a product similar to Apples MobileMe, but instead of the 99 dollar charge Microsoft says they will provide it for free!

Although companies are trying to keep up with Apples intense growth rate they will have to come up with something truely revolutionary to beat them in this race to the top.

iPhone App Store

Apple's iPhone app store offers over 15,000 applications and 500 MILLION games available to its users there are still some issues that critics have.
Developers have found it difficult to bet recognized for their work. Customers cant differentiate between the 99 cent apps and the higher end ones that cost a little more. As the "most downloaded" always then to be the 99 cent type developers would like other ways to be promoted like a rank by revenue or something of that sort.
Developers have the problem of getting their app INTO the store! Developers can wait anywhere from 2 weeks to over 2 months before they know wether their app was accepted or not. It is well know that many apps are rejected for no particular reason.
Though the app store from apples perspective is working fine so for now there is no reason to fix it, we just have to wait and see how things work out.
